A few weeks ago, my daughter asked me if it wasn’t dangerous to get involved with the Betriebsrat and fight for employee interests. She’d been watching the NBC series Superstore about a fictional big box store.
Several of the episodes show how the store management engages in rigorous union-busting activity to prevent their employees from representing their interests collectively. Only in a few countries – including Austria – do we enjoy the privilege of having the collective representation of our interests secured by law and of negotiations between employees and employers being institutionalized at different levels.
Come out to vote in the election on July 11 and 12 or cast a mail-in ballot in support of the LKU in the Betriebsrat as a strong partner on your side when it comes to improving working conditions at the university. So that we can continue making a difference.
